Both can be escalated to sex if the connection is right, drinks are a bit easier. I noticed that people on this sub prefer coffee dates or pre-date getting-to-know-you. I don’t drink alcohol on a first date because I have a very low tolerance and don’t want to end up drunk or tipsy with someone I don’t know. I've tried quick coffee dates from 4-5pm, or simply meeting up for drinks without getting dinner first, but I've always found that this resulted in less time spent together, and therefore I wasn't really able to get a feel for whether or not we had good chemistry.
